About Me
Qualifications
Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
Level 1 & 2 Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)
Certificate in Interpersonal Biology
I have worked for the last 6 years in the Occupational Health Department of the Salford Royal Hospital Trust as a staff counsellor providing counselling services for hospital staff and council employees.
As well as providing one to one counselling I ran group workshops for Resilience and Wellbeing to all hospital and council staff. In addition I worked for 5 years as a family support worker for a charity that provides support to families that have a child with a life threatening illness.
I work for a charity set up specifically to address the impact of the pandemic and another that supports those who are affected by suicide.
The Way I Work:
Be kind to your body- your inseparable best friend
I am an integrative therapist and I work with a trauma informed focus. I also combine this with a keen interest and passion in neuroscience. I help clients understand the neuroscience of stress, anxiety and depression and the interconnection between mind, body and brain.
A person’s thoughts, feelings, sensations and beliefs around themselves all have an impact on the psychological and physical well-being of the person. I believe that many of our symptoms of distress are of the body and I incorporate relaxation and breathing techniques as well as EFT (tapping) to induce a calm and compassionate response to the body and whole self.
Other techniques I utilize in counselling include person centered theory, CBT techniques, psychodynamic theory, attachment styles, solution focused therapy and ACT (acceptance and Commitment therapy).
My approach allows for a tailored approach which means I am sensitive to your needs and pace so we can concentrate on the practical steps that can help bring balance to your life.
I am experienced in the following areas:
- Work related stress
- Managing stress and anxiety
- Depression and low mood
- Grief and loss
- Suicidal thoughts
- Impact of suicide
- Chronic Illness
- Life transitions
- Family difficulties
- Trauma
- Panic attacks
- Self Esteem
- Interpersonal relationships
I offer a free 20 minute initial consultation without any commitment. It is an opportunity for you to tell me what brings you to counselling and discuss whether therapy could be beneficial to you.
